Spotify playlist curator statistics 2026

Updated

These figures come from the PlaylistLookup database, which tracks 273,000+ Spotify playlists. It is our own database, not a sample of all of Spotify, so every number on this page describes what we track. It only contains playlists with at least 100 followers, and our scraper looks for playlists that show contact signals, so the figures are not representative of Spotify as a whole. In it, 21% of playlists have at least one public contact channel on record. Data as of October 5, 2026.

Methodology

What we count

A playlist is one public Spotify playlist in the PlaylistLookup database. A contact channel is a public way to reach the curator: email, Instagram or other contact channels, namely a submission link, a website, a link-in-bio page, X (Twitter), TikTok or Facebook. "Submission link" also covers links to submission platforms found through a linktree, and a contact link that fits none of these types is counted as "other link". A playlist has a contact channel when at least one is on record for it. Contacts come from what curators publish themselves: playlist descriptions, profiles and the pages they link to. Contact details are recorded per curator, so a channel a curator publishes on one playlist is also on record for their other playlists. Genre figures use the same definitions as our genre pages: a playlist belongs to a genre when its name or description contains one of the genre's keywords.

How playlists get into the database

Our scraper finds playlists through Spotify search and through the other playlists of curators already in the database. Only playlists with at least 100 followers are added, and in search the scraper only keeps playlists whose description shows a contact signal. The database is therefore not a random sample: the figures are not representative of Spotify as a whole and describe only what we track.

How current the data is

New playlists are added regularly, and the database is continuously synced with Spotify. Only playlists currently found on Spotify are counted; playlists that Spotify no longer returns are left out. This page is recalculated once a day, and the figures shown are from October 5, 2026.

Rounding

Totals of 10,000 or more are rounded down to the nearest 1,000 and shown with a plus sign, so a figure never overstates the database. Percentages are rounded to whole numbers. Medians are exact.

Privacy

This page shows totals only. It contains no email addresses, handles, curator names or individual playlists, and neither does the CSV download.
